Entrevista com a estilista do Will.i.am, Lor-e Phillips

O iamwillBR entrevistou a estilista do Black Eyed Peas e claro, do Will.i.am, Lor-e Philips. Lor-e é uma amiga de bom tempo de Will, inclusive se tornou uma dos proprietárias da i.am.clothing, marca de roupas criada pelo Will.i.am. Nessa entrevista Lore falou como conheceu Will, sobre o Black Eyed Peas, suas inspirações e mais. Leia a entrevista abaixo:

Com quantos anos você se descobriu uma estilista? E desde então, quem foi sua maior inspiração?

Eu tenho costurado e feito design desde que eu tinha 7 anos, quando minha mãe me ensinou a costurar. Eu tive diferentes pessoas inspiradoras na vida quando se trata de design, então isso depende do tipo.

Quais outros artistas você é responsável pelo figurino?

Algumas celebridades com que trabalhei no passado, ou que usam meus desenhos, são Brad Pitt, Demi Moore, Scherzinger, Kelis, Erykah Badu, Ashlee Simpson, No Doubt e Toto.

Quais peças você mais gosta de fazer? Ex: Blusa, camisa, calça, sapatos, etc...

Sapatos!

Qual foi a roupa mais diferente que você já criou (que não foi para o BEP)?

Uma vez eu fiz o desenho de um sapato para o programa de TV "Clueless" (As Patricinhas de Beverly Hills), foi quando na verdade minha carreira começou.

Onde você conheceu o will.i.am? E como foi se tornar uma dos proprietárias da "i.am.clothing"?

Nós nos conhecemos na década de 90 quando nós eramos crianças em um clube, ele estava dançando e eu gostei da jaqueta dele então nós começamos a conversar sobre moda, e temos sido melhores amigos desde então... em 2001 sua musica começou a mantê-lo muito ocupado mas ele ainda tinha um interesse em moda então nós decidimos
que eu correria atrás da moda e nós colaboraríamos na linha juntos e seríamos parceiros.

Há quanto tempo você trabalha com o figurino do BEP?

Eu comecei a trabalhar com o BEP oficialmente em 2001.

Você é responsável pelo figurino dos quatro Peas? Se sim, para qual deles é o mais legal de criar? Por quê?

Não de todos eles. No passado outras pessoas se juntaram também para ajudar no trabalho com eles, já que são tantos e tão pouco tempo. No começo eu era a única responsável pelos 4 Peas, quando “Elephunk” foi lançado. Depois, conforme eles cresciam, crescia o departamento de figurino. Os mais legais que eu posso pensar são alguns dos mais simples. Eu estou na fase agora de que quanto mais simples, melhor, mas é muito difícil escolher.

De onde vem, principalmente, as inspirações para os figurinos do BEP e Will.i.am?

De todos os lugares! E em qualquer lugar, dependendo do evento, vídeo, show que estivermos fazendo, pode ter certas regras e desafios de design que precisam de cuidados, tais como, se estivermos fazendo um vídeo com certo tom de laranja no set, as roupas têm que complementar ou combinar com ele. É desse tipo de coisa que vem a inspiração.

Qual foi o maior desafio em vestir o BEP?

As regras técnicas!

O que você achou da idéia de produzir roupas futurísticas para o BEP?

Foi muito legal no começo da era "Boom Boom Pow" pois foi uma nova idéia com muita liberdade criativa, mas então eu comecei a ver muito prata e ouro e metais e só queriam preto sólido e cores neutras de volta.

O que você acha de cada época dos Peas, em relação aos figurinos? (Elephunk, Monkey Business, The END and The Beginning) Alguma preferida? Por quê?

Eram como fases, cada uma era bem legal do seu modo, mas olhando para trás agora, parece tão engraçado para mim todas aquelas cores do “Elephunk” e “Monkey Business”. Fico bastante satisfeita que começamos a transformar em tons neutros hoje.

Podemos contar com um figurinos bem inovadores na era #WillPower?

Várias jaquetas estilo "letterman" (jaquetas esportivas).

Qual figurino do will.i.am foi o mais difícil de ser feito?

hahaha, todos!

Aren't you a Brazilian Peabody? So... read the interview in English:

How old were you when you found out that you were a designer? And since then, who was your greatest inspiration?

I've been sewing and designing since i was about 7 years old when my mom taught me how to sew.. i've had different inspirational people through out my
life when it comes to designing, so it depends kind of.

What kind of clothing is your favorite to make? (t-shirt, blouse, pants, shoes, etc)

shoes!

Which other artists are you responsable for the costume?

A few celebrities i have worked with in the past, or that wear my designs, are brad pitt, demi moore, nicole sherzinger, kelis, erykah badu, ashlee simpson,
no doubt and toto.

How long do you work with BEP costumes?

I started working with black eyed peas officially in 2001.

Where does the inspiration to make the BEP and will.i.am's costumes came from?

Everywhere! and anywhere, depending on the event/ video/ show we are doing ti for it may have certain regulations and design challenges that need to be taken
care of, such as if we are doing a video with a certain color of orange on the set, the clothing may need to match exactly or compliment that, that sort of thing
is where inspirations grows from.

Are you responsable of the costumes of all the Peas? If you are, which one is the coolest to made? Why?

Not all of them, in the past other people have come in as well to help work on them since there are so many and such little time, in the beginning i was
responsible soley for all 4 of the peas when elephunk came out, then as they grew, so did the wardrobe department..the coolest i can think of are some of the
simplest i'm in the phase now os simple is better,..but its so hard to chose!

What was you hardest challenge about BEP costumes?

The technical regulations!

What did you think about making futuristic costumes to the BEP?

It was really cool in the beginning of the boom boom pow era because it was a new idea with lots of creative freedom, but then i started to see too much silver
and gold and metals and just wanted solid blacks and neutral colors back.

What do you think about all the different eras of the BEP, related to the costumes? (Elephunk, Monkey Business, The END and The Beginning) Which one do you prefer? Why?

They were like phases, all of which were really cool at the tie, but looking back now, it seems so funny to me all the colors of elephunk and monkey bisiness,
pretty glad actually it started to transform into neutral tones nowdays.

What was the most different clothing (not of BEP) that you made?

I once desgined a shoe for the tv show "clueless", thats actually how my career started.

Where did you know will.i.am? How was to you became one of the owners of the "i.am.clothing"?

We met in the 90s when we were both kids at the club, he was dancing and i liked his jacket so we started talking about fashion, and have been best friends ever since,..
in 2001 his music started keeping him really busy but he still had an interest in fashion so we decided that i would run that aspect and we would collaborate on
the line together and be partners.

Can we expect very innovative costumes in the new "era" #willpower?

Lots of letterman style jackets.

Which will.i.am's costume was the hardest one to be made?

hahaha, all of them!
